March 2023 - Joie De Vin - Off the Beaten Track in France

On Thursday March 16th we were delighted to welcome Tim and Jill North, proprietors of Joie de Vin in Winchester. Tim had extensive career experience in the marketing of French wines and set up Joie de vin as a career step.

Its proposition is to import wines from smaller French vignerons whose products never get near the English supermarket shelves but are, nevertheless excellent wines.

 

Tim brought along several wines from the Loire region:  

• Domaine Salmon Chardonnay 2022

• Domaine Salmon Pinot Gris 2022

• Domaine de la Chaise, Chenin Blanc, Touraine 2020 a fine white Burgundy, 

• Domaine Norman Macon La Roche 2020 several delightful reds from the Rhone and regions in the south west of France: 

• Domaine Laurens Marcillac 2020

• Domaine du bon Remede Cotes du Ventoux 2020, 

• Domaine La Toupie from Cotes Catalan and,  an excellent Gaillac to finish:

•  Chateau Vignals 2016

We were privileged to be offered an "on the night" discount and we sent him away with a substantial order.

 

Tim is a very knowledgeable wine merchant and an entertaining presenter of his wares. It was a great club evening.
